The product · raastey v0.5

A desk for serious writing.

raastey is a markdown editor built around the writer. Keyboard before mouse, calm typography by default, and an AI that observes and never speaks first. The toolbox sits one keystroke away.

A blank page. Nothing else.

Markdown at the center. Headings collapse into an outline, links and emphasis live under your fingers with CmdK and CmdB, smart typography turns -- into an em dash without asking. The command palette opens with Cmd/; the full cheat sheet with Cmd?. Focus mode hides the chrome, leaves the prose, and returns just as quietly.

Find and replace stays scoped to the document. Export sends your draft out as .md in one keystroke. Quick-open brings every draft you have touched recently to the front of the palette.

Five pillars, one panel.

raastey ships with the toolkit a writer would otherwise tab away to find. Look up a word and the dictionary panel returns a definition, pronunciation, etymology, and synonyms in parallel. Hold a draft against LanguageTool's full ruleset for grammar that catches commas and contradictions alike. Spellcheck runs locally in your browser in en-US or en-GB; teach it a word once and it remembers. Readability metrics — Flesch-Kincaid, Coleman-Liau, ARI, a sentence-length histogram, the passive-voice ratio — sit beside the draft without judging it.

Dictionary

Definition, pronunciation, etymology, synonyms.

Grammar

Self-hosted LanguageTool. Quiet by default.

Spellcheck

Hunspell in your browser. en-US + en-GB.

Readability

Flesch-Kincaid, histogram, passives. At a glance.

AI

Voice and structure cues. Never speaks first.

An AI that observes and never speaks first.

The AI panel is one keystroke away and stays out of every other one. Ask it about voice, rhythm, repetition, or structure and it answers. It does not autocomplete. It does not finish your sentences. It does not fix anything you did not ask it to fix.

Behind the panel sits a five-provider chain — Groq, Cerebras, NVIDIA NIM, DeepSeek (US writers only), and OpenRouter as a quiet safety net. Voice cues run on every tier; the structural and contradiction surfaces unlock for raastey Cloud. When the chain runs into a calm rate limit, raastey says taking a breath and tells you when to try again. No banners, no popups.

Signals, not substitutions.

Every keystroke, kept.

Drafts autosave about half a second after you stop typing. Each save snapshots into version history so yesterday's paragraph survives today's revision. raastey Draft keeps three active documents and seven days of history; raastey Cloud lifts both caps. Export stays plain — markdown for everyone; pdf, docx, and epub once Cloud opens.

Quiet by design.

Focus mode hides the chrome. Smart typography curls straight quotes and converts dashes into em dashes, stays out of code blocks, and toggles off when you ask. There are no toolbars. There are no notifications. The status bar holds the word count, the reading-time estimate, and a single dot for the writing target if you have set one. Everything else waits behind a key.
